Our competitive squad competes at many galas throughout the year, from dual meets in Scotland to larger galas in the rest of the UK.
Fixtures and Results
Aside from League matches, which take place on Wednesday evenings every few weeks, our competitive team also makes the journey to Ponds Forge in Sheffield twice a year for BUCS, where we compete against other student athletes from throughout the country. Many swimmers also choose to participate in the Scottish Student Sport championship in the Spring, and the Saints are always very well represented in the Celtic Nations Tournament.
The University of St Andrews Swimming Club is comprised of three groups – the Development, Recreational, and Competitive teams. The Recreational group is an opportunity for all students to swim laps at their leisure during the scheduled pool times, while the Development squad has some coached sessions. The Competitive team trains 4 times per week and competes across the country. Anyone who is interested in the Development or Recreational team need only pay the online membership at the University’s Online Shop. Anyone who is interested in the Competitive team must attend try-outs at the start of the academic year, as we require a certain level of swimming speed and ability from our members. This process is explained in greater detail under the ‘Join Us’ heading.
